Listening to your story and understanding the whole picture 

As well as there being many reasons why pain may begin, there are also many other reasons why pain might continue. I  have extensive experience in identifying the underlying causes that may be stopping you from recovering from such a problem. I listen to your story of the pain so that I can understand your situation and the nature of it. 

Together, we explore and address these. We will look at physical components such as posture, joint mobility,  soft tissue length, muscle strength, coordination,  as well as your physical activities and any occupational demands.

We may also need to explore with you how your thoughts and feelings may be impacting your physical body and ongoing persistent pain.

Emotional stress and anxiety can create tension in your muscles (part of the fight or flight response),  which will impact how your muscles can function and, consequently, how easily you can move. A  history of experiencing difficult emotions can also impact the brain's pain-modulating systems and can often contribute to increased intensity and persistence of pain. 

During your initial assessment session, we explore all elements that may be impacting the persistence of pain and develop a programme to address these issues so you can get back to living an active,  pain-free life.
